I am Virgil Kane.  This is a blog intended to indulge my passion for western writing.  It is something I do every day through writing  western novels, novellas and short stories.  I try and spend four and five hours each day developing this craft.   I always use  a western theme,  a western historical background and the western persona that ironically really never existed.  But for those twenty-plus years following the Civil War life was simple.  Black was black, white was white and gray was seldom found.  Bad men and women were easy to identify.  Not like today.  Not like yesterday.   I particularly enjoy the works of Zane Grey, Louis L’Amour, Max Brand and Luke Short.  I have found no one writes  the west that they wrote.  No one approaches the craft using their style, their type of  stories, and with their passion for what they wrote.  Perhaps you do.
